Governance, ethics and transparency in brazilian table tennis association: historical data evolution

The Brazilian Table Tennis Association (CBTM) build a reference position in governance among the national governing body in Brazil through an implementation of process looking for its modernization. Between 2018 and 2022, CBTM registered an evolution of 91.6% ((1) Governance Index - 0.52 to 0.74 (+42.3%); (2) Process and Support - 0.36 to 0.76 (+111.1%); (3) Transparency - 0.36 to 0.78 (+116.7%); (4) Compliance - 0.27 to 0.53 (+96.3%).) in the grade of the GET Program, led by the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB). It represents better access to lottery fund resources from one year to another and improve the credibility status in the local market. The entire work guaranteed a 7.8% improvement on the total amount received from lottery fund (distributed from COB). Beyond the tangible economic result, it was empirically noted a better relationship from the organization to its main stakeholders and, so, a willingness to be closer and support CBTM. This can also be measured by the 166.7% growth rate on membership affiliation to Brazilian table tennis clubs in this period. So, we can say that improvements in aspects of governance, ethics and transparency generate better performance results for the organization in the eyes of its sports community. It is essential to seek better analyses of the correlations between these results and the perceptions of value on the part of stakeholders and society in general.
