Marcus obtained his bachelor in sport science and a PhD in sport philosophy at Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Brazil). He then got his master’s degree in sports ethics and integrity (MAiSI), which is a two year postgraduate programme delivered by six prestigious universities in Europe and the UK, including KU Leuven. Marcus loved this masters. It was not only an interesting degree but also gave him the opportunity to live in a different country each semester. On top of that, prof. Mike McNamee (Faculty of Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences), was impressed with his thesis and reached out to him for a post-doc position at KU Leuven. Split between the Department of Movement Sciences and our Department (under the supervision of prof. Pascal Borry), Marcus will do research on placebo, anti-doping and concussions in sports.
